Welcome to wisdg blogs

updated to july 26 2007 :
Wisdg Blogs are an evolving commentary and service to our
community, to assist in identifying and communicating strategic
issues impacting upon our Waiheke destiny. This is especially so
regarding our community desire and strategic need to more
embrace our identity as a sustainable island in the Hauraki Gulf
and so in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.

Our primary focus is upon :

Sustainability as a Community and Governance Issue 2.5MB ppt
The Proposed Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan and our
WISDG Submission to the Proposed Plan
Our Strategic Relationship with the Hauraki Gulf & Forum
Vision Matiatia & other significant developments
The Mayoral TaskForce on Sustainable Development and so
more devolved governance for Waiheke

And while we should remember our NZ origins of environmental
legislation we should also give priority to the emerging role of the
Hauraki Gulf Forum, and to recent changes to
the RMA requiring the giving of effect to the HGMPA 2000,
and also to the changing impacts upon the Gulf of
CLIMATE CHANGE and WATERS MANAGEMENT issues, and of
anticipated National Policy Statements related thereto, and also of
the regional initiative START. See ppt.

And especially as an active vibrant community we Waihekeans
should also look to having the Local Government Act 2002 play
an increasing role in the identification of our community
outcomes and in the governance of our affairs via
our own LTCCP, our own Waiheke Island Gulf Design Panel,
and more devolved Waiheke self governance .

Important WISDG March 2007 Submissions to the Mayoral Task
Force on Susutainable Development and to the Hauraki Gulf Forum
are also featured in their respective blogs. Download MTFSD . HGF .
